I was first shocked to hear about Mr. Ledger's tragic demise. As a movie fan I can't help but wonder what amazing artistic achievements he could have reached, if he'd just had more time. Heath was an unbelievably talented young actor. I just want to say this: to me, he's the true winner of 2006's Academy Award for best actor.
I'll always remember when I saw him in person at Venice Film Festival. The way he sat down shrugging, when he got applauded by the audience at The Brothers Grimm Italian premiere, almost like a 5-year-old kid who suddenly finds himself at the center of the attention at his birthday party.
Heath was naturally and genuinely an unconventional star, always more committed to his craft than to Hollywood's money-making philosophy.
My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends.
Rest in peace, man. You will be sadly missed.
